BAGLIO PASSOFONDO
From the Latin "vallum", fortress, and from the Arabic "bahal" = inner courtyard
Baglio Passofondo was a three year renovation project of a “baglio” from the Latin "vallum", fortress, and from the Arabic "bahal" = inner courtyard. This term refers to the typical fortified buildings of the Sicilian countryside of the eighteenth century, belonging to families of landowners and characterized by the presence of an internal courtyard and high walls of protection. They were originally used for the care of animals and for the storage and the first processing of grapes and olives). Originally constructed in1852 on a picturesque vineyard in the rolling hills of Alcamo’s DOC white wine region, home to his grandfather Stellino, this carefully and well thought out dream became a reality in May of 2018. The historical site of rare stone walls and travertine floors, museum quality in every minor detail.
Today serves as a five Star Boutique Hotel and Resort sprawling 50 acres of vineyards and olive groves, organic gardens and lush landscaping featuring ten Deluxe Guestrooms, a Fine Dining Restaurant, a Bar and an underground Cantina with rare and local Sicilian and International wines and spirits, Within its stone walled courtyard there is a year-around heated pool and relax area, a Day Spa and Wellness Centre.
